Data deletion instructions
How to ask for your personal data to be deleted, whether you rented a car with a company that uses Locar or you hold a Locar account yourself.
Version 2026-10-10 · Last updated 10 October 2026
Who to ask
If you rented a car, or exchanged WhatsApp messages with a rental company that uses Locar, that company holds your data as the data controller. Ask it directly first: it is best placed to find your record and act on your request.
You can also write to support@locar.ai. Locar will pass your request on to the rental company and help it respond.
If you hold a Locar account yourself, as the owner or a staff member of a rental company, write to support@locar.ai from the email address on your account.
How to request deletion
- Your name
- The email address or phone number you used with the rental company
- The name of the rental company you dealt with
- What you want deleted, for example your account, a booking, or your WhatsApp conversation
- We may ask you to confirm your identity before acting on the request
What we delete
- Account data: your profile, contact details and sign-in history, if you hold a Locar account
- Files you sent over WhatsApp, such as a photo of a document, and — if the rental company asks us to — the text of your WhatsApp conversation; see "WhatsApp" below
- AI readings: fields and images from a document we read but that were never confirmed onto a record
- Personal files: identity documents, driving licences and other files you sent, where they are not kept as legal evidence (see below)
What we must keep
Some records are legal evidence. We keep signed contracts, vehicle inspection photos and invoices for as long as the law, or the rental company's own legal duties, require it, even after you ask for deletion.
We also keep an audit record of the erasure itself: who asked, when, and what was deleted. That record holds no personal content beyond those facts.
If you dealt with our WhatsApp assistant, we keep the assistant's own record of what it did for you — the actions it took, the questions it passed to a member of staff, and the tool-level record behind them — as evidence of what happened, never as a copy of your conversation.
You can stop receiving messages at any time by blocking the number or asking the rental company to stop writing to you.
The rental company is the controller of your WhatsApp conversation with it, so it decides whether to ask for a deletion; Locar assists. On request, Locar can erase files you sent over WhatsApp, such as a photo of a document.
On the rental company's request, Locar can also erase the text of your WhatsApp messages, their translations and the assistant's replies to you. What we must keep even then is described in "What we must keep" above. We do not yet delete message history automatically after a fixed period; a defined retention window is being set.
WhatsApp is run by Meta. Data Meta holds about you as part of the WhatsApp service is covered by Meta's own privacy policy, not this page.
How long it takes
We answer every request within one month. If a request is complex, we may need longer, as GDPR allows, and we will tell you so and explain why.
Contact and complaints

If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos (AEPD) in Spain, the Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados (CNPD) in Portugal, or the supervisory authority where you live.
